This piece was inspired and powered by the harmonic series: 1/n = 1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4… into infinity, incrementally diverging at a snails pace. Think overtones in music — any frequency greater than the fundamental frequency of a sound. This work is a visual meditation on rhythm and oscillation, imagining what sound might look like, how we might transform its frequencies, shaping them in a way that is both playful and entrancing. Made with Touch Designer Size: 1080 x 1920 px. Duration: 1 min 05 seconds. The owner will be able to receive MP4/MOV with higher quality encoding. This is the purchase benefit for the primary sale only.
About the artist
Eliza Struthers-Jobin
Born in 1985, Montreal, Canada
Lives and works in Paris, France
Based in Paris, Eliza Struthers-Jobin (b. 1985, Montréal) is a generative artist and programmer. Fascinated by the influence that programming and algorithmic thinking have on the creative process, Eliza has been creating art with code since 2015. Eliza's work spans large-scale interactive and immersive audiovisual installations and is anchored in play and exploration. Using procedural methods, the artist generates otherworldly yet familiar patterns and shapes - these curious, often translucent forms can be thought of as visual meditations. Eliza collaborates with fellow artists, studios as well as brands creating works for festivals, shows, and to showcase new and emerging technologies. After having exhibited in numerous music and digital art festivals (Creative Code Art Festival, Digital Art Month in Paris, Burning Man, EP7 in Paris), on urban installations (Night Lights in Denver, Neo Shibuya in Tokyo), the artist joins the ranks of cultural institutions in 2022, notably with the ArtPoint exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris as well as Paris+ par Art Basel with fxHash and the Tezos Foundation in October 2022. Eliza holds a DEC in Film Studies from Dawson College, a Bachelors in Communications & Journalism from Concordia University, and a Masters in New Media, Web & the Arts from Université de Paris. She is a self taught programmer.
